Experience
Cabaret’s often been about lowering the tone and pointing your satire at the powers that be. Few know this better than theatre pioneer, feminist stalwart and bonafide national treasure Robyn Archer.
The singer, writer, director and arts advocate has been selling out theatres and probing at the rich songbooks of Europe and America since the ‘70s. She’s written music theatre shows, evoked the intense drama of the Weimar Republic and taken on the tragic lives of some of history’s great divas.
Now she’s inviting us on a melodic journey through the difficult and divine rhythms that are woven into the sonic fabric of her homeland. From convict lament to Bon Scott, Kate Miller Heidke and First Nations songwriters, Robyn joins a trio of celebrated stage musicians to perform uproarious repertoire that bumps along with laughter, politics, tragedy and fun.
Robyn Archer: An Australian Songbook had its World Premiere at Queensland Theatre.
