Nottingham-based artist Yazmin Lacey writes sensual, journalistic narratives bursting with jazz, soul and wry observation.
Yazmin Lacey is a singer-songwriter whose coming into her own. The UK-based artist—who blends soul, jazz, funk and R&B—came to music late, after moving to Nottingham from London and making music from her living room. The 33-year-old has used her music as an exercise in moments, often recording sketches of lyrics as voice memos and putting them into song to create textured, intimate snapshots.
Now her debut album Voice Notes is picking up widespread praise and five-star reviews in The Guardian, and she’s heading down into Max Watt's for RISING.
