Gallery : Moving Objects
Take a look back at this gallery of public artworks from MOVING OBJECTS.
As part of RISING 2021, in collaboration with Museums Victoria, artists responded to the collections at Melbourne Museum for MOVING OBJECTS—a city-wide public art program, and one of the few RISING projects able to continue through lockdown.
Artists were invited to access Museums Victoria’s vast collections, and cultural material they were connected to, with the goal of forming new narratives for the collections. MOVING OBJECTS supported an artistic manifestation of the ongoing connection and living culture that these objects have with community.
Under the curation of RISING Artistic Associate Kimberley Moulton (Yorta Yorta), the works took form in posters, hoardings and video which were left for people to explore on their lockdown excursions. A partnership with YIRRAMBOI enabled the co-presentation of Kaiela Arts’ installation, and a film by Daniel Riley.
MOVING OBJECTS is an iterative project and will take different forms over the next few years.
We’ve collected a selection of images of the 2021 works in the gallery above. Once you’ve had a look through the gallery, head over to the links below to learn more about the individual artworks.
